In the Ostia Antica district is the Castle of Julius II which has an unusual triangular (ravelin) shaped foundation. The outside walls are extremely thick with the underneath of the ramparts having a familiar trim design. The inside courtyard of the castle is tall and narrow with a lovely fishbone Roman tile design on the floor. The triangular castle design has two large rampart areas with gorgeous views of the surrounding countryside and the keep at the other end.
