Inside the Castel Sant Angelo
I found this staircase behind the central keep and near the tourist book shop.
I love how the space underneath of the stairs is curved up towards a
support beam below the end balcony. The contrasting zigzag of the steps
next to the smooth ascending line of the underneath is gorgeous. It seems
that this quaint design was popular because there were other
examples
around the keep as well.
