South of the small island
Isola which is in the middle of the river
Tiber
(The main river through Rome) is the remains of an
old bridge
now broken and consumed by weeds. The new bridge next to it is called the
Ponte Palatino
and due to its construction angle the old bridge had to be
demolished, but luckily the
middle section
was left intact. Even in its derelict state
the old bridge called the Ponte Rotto
has amazing stonework detail.
