The Pergamon Museum is located on Museum Island and was designed by Alfred Messel and Ludwig Hoffmann over a twenty (1910-1930) year period. The Pergamon Museum is well known for the Pergamon Altar and the Market Gate of Miletus but I preferred the reconstruction of the Ishtar Gate and the Processional Way as it created a great sense of scale of what the perimeter of Babylon might have been like. The Islamic Art Museum is housed in the upper part of the Pergamon Museum and contains a wealth of fabric and ceramic exhibitions including the famous Mshatta facade. The ceramic pray altars were a breathtaking sight of beauty constructed from uniquely designed glazed tiles perfectly locked together. Berlin - Pergamon Museum (2 of 2)
